on the pressure pot 2 comps make a big difference they can keep the pot at a constant high pressure which makes regulating the grit flow easy and steady for the amount of air flow any drop in pressure during use upsets the ratio of air and media = less air and more media doing half a job

My rubbish suction gun works much better with the pickup tube restricted by a piece of old hose - seems to stop the gun choking.

Drilling a small hole in the pickup tube sometimes helps, or try to arrange the end of the tube to be just below the surface of the grit.

small hole part way up suction hose works fine and simple it cures the problem
