Gooloo are excellent. I have the GP4000.
Came 3rd in this very detailed test. Only just dropped into 3rd place. Based on price it was the best vfm. The model in 2nd place isn't available in the UK. I haven't used it in amger yet but makes a great powerpack for charging phones and laptops etc.

Struggling for Chrimbo pressies for my lad. After something decent, proven and most of all that will hold it's charge until you need it.

Got a Noco GX70. Very impressed with it, and it starts tractors multiple times on one charge.

BiL has a Gooloo GP4000, but he has broken the case after a couple of months, but to be fair, he would break an anvil given the chance.

Yes. However dont look at the peak amps which are silly numbers. The Ah capacity is much more indicative of performance. The better Yaber, Utrai and Gooloo are in the 26,000-28,000mAh rating, many of the cheap ones are half that.

However if I were buying again I'd get one with a built in compressor, to save the effort of connecting up cig lighter cable through the windows. Theres a lot more choice of compressor ones available now.

Didn't start my Mercedes 300E-24 although it may have a completely dead battery. My other older China boost pack would start it though I'm fairly sure but it's lent out so I'll get it back over the weekend.



DC clamp meter recorded a max output of 270 amps.



The gauge said it was fully charged. But I'm charging it anyway and will try it on another car soon or leave it back if its still only putting out less than 300 amps.

This jump starter iisa Christmas present for my Dad. So I want to make sure it bloody works!

This test was not aimed success. 270amp and cutting out is not good enough really so I'll return it for a refund tomorrow.

I ordered a new Noco GB40 instead. I'll still test it when it arrives so that if Dad needs to use it, I know it will forking work.

I don't know the correct terms, but I do wonder when they give ratings for these things, its a similar situation as it was years ago with car and HiFi amplifiers ?

They would quote, for example, 500 watts, which was the PMPO value, which was about four times the RMS value. Making cheap and cheerful units look a lot better than they really were.

The claimed amps on all of these is peak 1/10000000th of a second amps, which is why its a bit of a silly and uncomparable number unless theres some kind of standard. Your meter will have a more sensible measurement interval and 270A over half or tenth of a second is not too bad it obviously was not successful, bigger battery is needed. This sort of loading can not be accurately measured on a clamp meter in my opinion.

What is the mAh or W/H rating on the lidl one? usally would say on the back.

My neighbour had a Noco, one of the better ones, the battery couldnt keep a charge and often flat when he needed it.

Like when what would be an 18V tool from the big names, the Lidl / Aldi / other cheapo ones are labelled as 20V (peak).

My Noco GB40 is brilliant at starting Mrs. ZX9's Corolla (1999) but does not like my BMW E61 or the Vito, personally I think it is the power required to run all the computing, lift pumps and air suspension that defeats it.

I wish I had bought something with a higher rating.

Just got this Noco today.

Brilliant. Stays on until you swtich it off. Was able to get my dead w221 S class back to life today easily.

The Noco also turned over a 3.2L engine with the same completely dead battery that the Lidl booster wouldn't turn over. (Same battery just in a 3.2L M104 engine instead of a 3L M104 the red car has)

Are they supposed to, or more effectively work direct on the actual battery terminals?

I stuck one of these Asperx on an MB ML350 with a very dead battery the other day via the under bonnet live and earth points, as the battery is under the driver seat and was in a rush. I couldn't even get the ignition light to come on and had gone through the boost button process.
