think this has turned out to be just me, been using it more and more and getting the hang of it, it would randomly pop and splatter all over the place, changed the bottle to argon/c02 and that stopped it, sorted my torch position out, closer to metal, around 5mm from tip to metal? and slowed torch speed down, will penetrate on c2 f4 wire speed 3.5-4, seem about right?

also had a pulsing wire feed issue, changed wire speed tension from 1 to 2 and that fixed it.

spool nut is tight, correct me if im wrong but you dont set tension on the spool, the peg locates on the reel, nut tight and the whole spool rotates?

Need just enough tension on the spindle to stop the roll freewheeling when you come off the trigger

Yep, mine is usually tight too, the drum turns with the spool due to the location peg. I was going to advise slowing down your torch travel but I see thats what you did. I tend to weave left, right, left going back into the previous pass in the middle on each pass and my welds look quite good in my opinion. Not too high and plenty of penetration. Pushing or pulling the pool will make a difference too.

I noticed with mine it was not at all keen on Co2, there was a significant difference when I changed to a mix, you would of course expect a difference but it was a world apart.

Some Transformer machines are not designed for use with 100 Co2. It usually specifies for use with Co2 and Ar/Co2 somewhere in the sales gumf and instruction book
