Possible inline fuses Citroen dispatch

Hey all

I have asked citroen all ready and they weren’t much help unfortunately.

Could any of you by any chance tell me what the black and brown plastic things are on the positive cable of this van. I’m assuming they are some kind of fuse. If so what amperage rating would they be seem to go to main fuse box and starter.

There’s no real information on them and while the guy at Citroen was as helpful as he could be couldn’t tell me what they were or what rating they were.

How do the read resistance wise, would expect to see some burning if they had gone high resistance or popped.
The top link appears to be corroded off and the rest is a fault waiting to happen.
What is the green at the top of photo, has water tracked down the cable
Scrap man is your friend, especially if you can see another van there

Alternator and starter fuses - I would be swapping out the whole cable from a used van if I was doing it.

Boy that looks corroded - what is the rest of the van like?

The one going to the starter will be 400A (heavier cable) the other will be either 150A or 200A
The parts monkey should be able to give you the correct items from the VIN

They not a cheap thing these cables with fuses in them - bought several over the years for Ford Galaxy (Taxis) with DV10 engines in them.

I never seem to be able to jump the blown fuses with jump leads either (just to move the dead motors about the yard).

I would normally as well but Citroen say they can’t get the part anymore been discontinued.

Ummmm not looked underneath yet coming on Monday, been sat for near 3 years got to free up the brakes and see if it’s worth putting through mot sentimental value to the customer means she doesn’t want to see it scrapped. Not look great but not terrible either was initial impression.

No parts available according to the parts monkey so it’s cobble something together thanks though should be able to work with that.

Yes they do - it's just an odd French location

VW have a seperate proper heavy fuse box for that job..replacable fuses and well made....that what I'd use......
have some on my 1999 Dutch T4......

I have a slightly newer Dispatch (2014) but it has a similar fuse holder. It takes standard Maxi blade fuses.

Those fuses supply different things, I can't remember them all but one was for the rear supplementary loom. The online fuse diagrams were useless as was the Haynes manual but eventually I worked out what rating they all should be. I have it written down & I'll post it on here.

BTW mine was corroded too, not as bad as that one. I removed it & used the vinegar/salt trick to clean it up. Yours looks too far gone so a visit to the breakers might be needed. Looks like a cable has rotted off!

Check the handbrake cables, they are prone to seizing up! Also a pita to adjust!
