Yeah Polymorph could be an option we have loads at work. Don't use it that often but did a project with it last week. We get ours from Specialist Crafts.

dont think polymorph will be suitable as it says it melts at 60C, on a hot day it might be getting upto that temperature in a car

Didn't think of that. Ours melts at 80 degrees I think. I would be using Xencast P6 then.

I'd cast one of those adapters into the knob, take some time to make jig to hold the pot shaft central and vertical and then inject epoxy resin (or other suitable resin - it needs to bond to adapter and knob.
The jig could simply be of thickish material with a hole drilled in the centre the size of pot shaft and the knob located centrally on the other side. A quick CAD drawing will allow you to align knob to hole.

It turned out that the cooker knob adapters were not the standard size for a normal pot so were no good for this job.

Instead I chopped up a few knobs that I had in the spares box.

I needed to cut down the grub screw so it would be flush, so held it like this on the belt sander.

Cut a new slot.

Fitted on the post.
