Bigger fire. We're not short on wood so stubborn ones get chucked on whole, either at my folks or just go on the bonfire.I will have to bring one of the stubborn ones down to you![]()
This is where it all started from. Having looked at the device I've some how ended up with wanting / needing a press, albeit dual purposeThere is this type. Powerful but slow. Two handles. High and low speed
My log splitter has a tractor powered ram - feel free.... not much will stop it... well, i havent found anything that will yet...I will have to bring one of the stubborn ones down to you![]()
Yes, on one I took the filler plug out, and pushed a barb fitting (Might have glued it in there).Ok cheers, i get the modification required
But, is there an easier way that doesn't involve dismantling the jack?

id adapt that log splitter myself to more of a flat plate with catch sides so when you split it dosnt drop the pieces all over the place
Looks painfully slow to be honest, cant be much more for an electric hydraulic one.id adapt that log splitter myself to more of a flat plate with catch sides so when you split it dosnt drop the pieces all over the place
for cost i like the kenetic one betterLooks painfully slow to be honest, cant be much more for an electric hydraulic one.
Thats quite quick compared to the hydraulic ones. Ive a 22 ton one for my tractor, splits well, but slow.for cost i like the kenetic one better
I also wondered if there is a shear bolt or something, my hydraulic splitter struggles with knotty lumps but at least you can heard it squealing, that kinetic type it seems pull the handle and bang its off through its cycle. Those electric jobs are quick never seen the likes before, what would they be like with knotty lumps I wonder?
With a hand pumping jack it'll take forever to split just a few logs if you are considering building a press get an air operated jack.

How much tonnage is a trolley jack ?Have you got a trolley jack? I've always had an idea to make a box section square ring, with a plate to go under the jack to support it, and a wedge on the top. Put log on jack and pump. Quick and easy!
