The hi flow ones are supposed to be better than the ordinary pcl bayonet fittings

PCL say their fittings flow 43cfm @ 100psi. It does seem odd that the 1/4" and 1/2" have the same bore, but if it's really 43cfm I suppose it makes no odds.

I have 2x 3hp comps, all PCL, 13mm hose directly off the tank like eil says, to the wall reg & filter pack, then 10mm hose to the mask & gun. No problem feeding them or a DA on fairly continuous running. Guess at lower cfm's like my sub-20 it won't make much difference, if they really can pass 43cfm.

Another factor for me was cost and range, was a lot cheaper to go PCL with 2x comps and runs through two buildings it added up.

Many compressors heavily restrict the output using an orifice that is perhaps only 2-3mm diameter, to protect the duty cycle of the compressor. This gives really poor performance with high volume tools though.

As I remember it[saw some comparison figures] type 25 flows around 75cfm[at 80psi with a 5lb drop], type 23 flows half that and type 19[pcl] a third.

Just wanted to come back to this one, the pressure drop continued to annoy me so today I bought the high capacity version of this

I simply replaced the existing 1/4" regulator that came with the compressor and my 3 bar pressure drop was reduced to a 1 bar pressure drop. So now 3 bar at the regulator gets me 2 bar at the gun and I have plenty of scope for increased pressure if required. It just seems to operate better I'm not even sure I was getting the full flow required to my gun as it now just seems to be putting out more air at the same pressure and rather than a gradual drop shown on my gun gauge it's an instant drop when triggered from 3 to 2 bar.

What amazed me was the internal size of the outlet on the original regulator, pics of the original outlet and the new regulator installed below.
