Well the one on the left certainly has better insulating capability.Problem is, once you have any gap where hot plastic can get out, it's easier to go that way than via the nozzle until the escaped plastic chills and jams the feed.
I still think the "insert tube" mod is the best thing I have done to prevent jamming and I thoroughly recommend you try it.
