That's what I did with mine.

Coated in high temp paste because these are soft bricks. It's lasting longer than I could have hoped too.

Single ventury burner eh ? Does it get hot enough my single burner has a small fire chamber and struggles the three burner one is fearsome though perhaps one too many keep burning my fringe off ! Hairdresser is a good customer though and thinks it kinda funny. Thinking two is likely optimum for most jobs and the three is very hungry on the gas!

It's my first one and I just wanted to get up and running. It does get hot though, the entire cylinder is wrapped in 2 inches of koawool, then bricked out with soft firebrick.

I have to be careful with the gas budget and I only do small jobs. My understanding is the soft bricks get hot more quickly but have lower thermal mass than the hard brick so would cool down more quickly too, if it wasn't for the kaowool. They are also considerably cheaper...

Koawwool is just as bad as asbestos . Superwool is better And safer I am told by the firm that makes both in birkenhead if I remember.

Yes I know but it is substantially cheaper.

It is biopersistent and I followed sensible safety precautions. Ultimately, I am still gonna die so I figure I might as well live a little first.

I made my own rigidiser by making a slip from fire cement. The fibres are rigidised, surrounded by fire brick and inside a barrel.

Same manufacturer does super wool its got b slightly increased insulation and isn't a ckass 1 carcinogen . The only isdue is you need a barrier (like cling film ) if your adfing a castable refractory. Once dry the vling film can just burn off.

Sadly I don't just buy the cheaper product(s), I buy the cheapest items secondhand and ideally damaged. I have a HUGE roll if this stuff. Enough to last a lifetime.
