Push bike trailer - insipration needed

Spot thedog, nice one but go back and do it again, you missed the canal.
Nice trailer, looks nicely built and high spec, an alarm for it becoming detached mr Bond.
One thing I would have made it central to the bikes tracking rather than having offset into the road. Tidy.

Thanks Chu': Missed the canel by nearly 40 years; Drained in the 70's, Just a sloppy puddle in the middle now with bits of latex adornments left by the 'ladies'...

I built one of these too,to carry my at the time old and sick dog, he loved it.
I too used a quick release connctor to join the trailer to the bike, mine was a pcl pneumatic fitting, I used a piece of rubber hose to join that to the trailer, the flexibility improves things a lot, theres also a safety strap just in case.
The frame is lightweight electrical stainless conduit and looks good.
Time permitting I'm going to build a cargo bike doig carrier, a cycle with a load carrying section ahead of the rider so I can see what he's up too while I'm riding.

Do you still have any of the old the wheel chairs ( or any one else for that matter ) .. I'm after a bit off a self propelled one ... small 9 inch or so castor by the foot rests, 28 inch or so rear hard rubber tyres or pneumatic tyred wheels .

The part I'm after is one of the chrome tubes that slides up & down in the front frame uprights on some of the older models when you fold them .

The newer models don't have them as far as I've been able to find out.

My lass & I dropped my chair out the back of the KIA Sedona one cold wet windy night and it bent the tube , I've tried to gently get it straighten it again but it is a nigh impossible task it sticks ever so slightly but enough to make folding the chair very difficult.

Hello p'c'h,

The part I'm after is one of the chrome tubes that slides up & down in the front frame uprights on some of the older models when you fold them .
The newer models don't have them as far as I've been able to find out.

I have a few bits of tubing left over but am unsure of the piece you describe.
Any chance of a pic and possibly a measure, and I'll be able to tell you for certain?
I also know someone with a few spare (older) chairs that I'd be wiling to look at if need be...

Now I've got the wheel chair back after having a car hoist fitted I'll take a piccy tomorrow ( Saturday ") and try and give dimensions .

I was finally was able to get out and take the pictures of my wheelchair this afternoon
The tube is the shiny one that comes off the seat frame , by the right hand arm rest at the front end , it goes down into the black frame as you sit in the chair when it is unfolded .

In this close up you can see it is only a bit of a millimetre out in several places but it is very hard to slide in and out of the plastic bushing so it makes folding the chair very difficult for my lass & nigh impossible for me to get it folded .

Sorry to say I don't have anything that would be a direct replacement. What is the make & model?

<bodge>Does the plastic guide need to be such a tight tolarence around the pipe?
Would it be too much of a hack to ream a few mill out thus allowing the damaged area to pass unimpeeded?</bodge>

Sadly there is no make and model label on it though I suspect it is over 10 yrs old as I purchased it second hand in tip top condition about five years ago .

But I do like your thinking about enlarging the hole in the plastic ferrule as Motability have just paid £1,100 for me to have a 12 volt wheel chair hoist fitted into the KIA.

So with luck I will now be able to use the chair with the reamed hole instead of having to buy a new chair at £ 300 ish

I'll check out the viability of making the bush hole largertomorrow .
I've just realized ... it may affect the geometry & therefore the ease of being propelled in the chair when it is pushed by my lass as I'm a mere 17 1/2 stone slim .
