my pet hate on masks is knobs on the outside as i used to catch them on stuff when clambering about in and on machenary and trying to poke my head in tight spaces but for 99% of the time for most people that won't be an issue.

i allways used to be a speedglass fan ( large part to do with been abel to get consumables from everywhere i've ever asked but had trouble with other masks ) so would have recomended one of them but i've been less than inpressed with my 9100 xxi

We’ve got similar tastes here Danny. External controls are crap in my book too
I knock em and can never set them back removing to have a look. Much prefer them under the screen.

My 9100FX Air XXI is a great helmet for my uses, which are tig and small constructions in MIG
It is however a bit heavier then most,due to the larger size of the filter and the adflo gubbins.

If I would be clambering about/get in or out of holes etcetera there could very well be better helmets as it's also quite large/bulky.
But with most airfeds even if the helmet itself is smaller in size then a 9100FX the whole airfeed/filter/motor mechanism could be seen as a hinderance as well

The speedglas 9002 range were better imo than the 9100 range. I had one for 11 years. I loved it. Tried the newer one out and the head gear/overall size of the shell was enough to put me off them.
Saying that though the XXi cartridge with the true colour lens it’s extra nice. A colleague bought his in to work. I don’t care too much for the mask but the lense is lovely. Big and crystal clear.

I agree it's not the most slimline helmet, but for my use it's small enough not to be hindered by it (I find myself bumping into stuff with the filter unit, not the helmet)
Also, on the Air version there's not much room they could save,as the Adflo facesealing takes up quite a lot of volume.
I wonder how other helemets with air supplies solve that problem, as some of the competitors offerings do seem less bulky.

I wonder if a 9002 Air could be made, as the 9002 shell is smaller that would certainly open up a whole market for Speedglas.

The air packs used on the 9002 were identical then as they are now. Great air packs mind. Made for the job.

Found them in a catalogue.
Might buy one without a filter incase I need to do some welding in confined spaces

I've looked around, and can not find a 9002 Air helmet?
Have 3m dropped it from their program.

I think so. Quite a while back I believe.
The 9100 is the only option now. But the air packs are the same
