Rack for pedestal drill; common part..?

We had that mechanism removed as it was causing more grief and frustration for all concerned; the crank arm is a piece of flat bar with a hole in the middle, secured with a wee grub screw - so whenever the clamp screw was tightened it would bend the crank arm and wear away the shaft onto which it was loosely held. Fine in theory but not in practice.

Something we need to look at perhaps.

Idea.

When I got my drill someone snapped half the handle off in transport, it still goes up and down just fine as the mechanism is in good fettle, but there’s no way you could put your weight on it and do any damage. I’m too lazy to fix it.

Perhaps just cut half the handle off, or if you’re feeling posh, swap it for a 100mm ish dia. knob. Makes it slightly more effort to adjust the table, but beats taking the machine apart and spending money on parts.

The newer keyless chucks are hard enough for pupils to figure out...
