yes because the Stellantis group are the only vehicles on the road...

and service info is always complete, correct and reliable....

They're not the only vehicle manufacturer, but IIRC there's only really three (possibly four) suppliers for vehicle ABS/ESP systems (Bosch, Delphi in it's various guises, Denso, and I think there's another random one I've come across)

Would you rather trust the vehicle manufacturer, or some random bloke on the internet?

Or is it just because the manufacturer's official method doesn't agree with your own personal "This is how I've always done it, despite not knowing why" opinion?

y'know what? i have never personally worried about it. i have back bled and pushed fluid back through abs systems many times. but i do see reasons why it could cause problems and would never discount someone else's opinion as invalid because my opinion doesn't agree.

and no, i don't trust the vehicle manufacturer. in general their aim is to have the vehicle last the warranty period, start having problems then sell you another car. period.

a classic example is the mk2 laguna. gearbox and turbo failures aplenty. why? sealed for life gearboxes with no oil change interval and stupid long oil service intervals.

strange that my 1st laguna did not suffer either of those failures in more than 1/4 million miles. why? because the oil got changed every 8k and the gearbox oil every 30k..

so no, the manufacturer does not have your best interests at heart. they are not interested in having your vehicle last a long time. they don't care what the effects their service instructions have on the vehicle as it ages, only that it won't cause problems in warranty.

I do agree about gearbox oil change intervals, but most failures aren't down to the oil.
It's down to the basic design, as they were from an era where manufacturer's were saving weight/cost, and changing some of the basic constructions, with a few mis-steps along the way. Things like Vauxhall where the casings were too light, resulting in bearing failure as the casings flexed too much under load, or Renault where they reduced the sizes of everything meaning they just failed due to too much wear, long before the oil would need changed on anything older.

Turbo failures weren't down to oil change interval, they were down to poorly specced turbos.
On the Trafics(Vivaros) they took the 1.6 from the cars, (which I wouldn't say were bad for turbo failures, but they certainly had more failures than other engines), which meant the whole engine was working far harder, but never uprated anything. Some turbos were going bang in under 10k. I think the last time I checked, there had been over half a dozen supersessions on the turbo in an attempt to make them last. I know at the peak of issues, we were fitting one a week under warranty on a fleet of a few hundred, but that's now dropped.

There are engines where oil changes are too long, but modern oil and filtration is a long way ahead of 20 years ago.
Things like the PSA 1.4/1.6, which if you buy a Ford with one fitted, the service interval is half that of the same engine in a PSA/Stellantis vehicle, as the oil ways carboning up is a known issue due to the oil being pushed too far.

Ford did drop the service interval on Transits/Customs, for various reasons, but the oil life monitoring is still largely the same.

However, if you strip a modern engine with long service intervals, unless it's had some major fault, the inside will be as clean, if not cleaner than an engine from 20 years ago with far shorter service intervals.

Good old decoke (get a file into where the pad lugs sit, it's here it the squeals commonly comes from) and copper grease (I've still got like half a 5l tub of it acquired in the 80's) modern vehicles have the engine running for vacuum to the servo doing a bleed. I don't use anything fancy I still use a 50p orange pipe with a split in it and a few coffee jars. Made up a "pusher" donkeys years ago out of some angle iron a few washers nuts and bolts welded here and there with a rocker conrod for a handle.

My citroen relay van has a 2.2 Ford engine and its on 30,000mile service intervals. Which is incredible really. I've had it since new, it's now at 135,000 miles and the engine still runs and sounds like new and uses no oil between changes.
