Really appreciate Buying advice..

Hi all names Ben and ive finally joined up, been lurking for 2yr now reading as much as i can but tbh i really do need to just ask the questions and hope you gents can help..be VERY much appreciated if so!!

So im looking at buying a decent compressor once and for all, this is my only chance too!!

Its main purpose will be air tools the biggie being the DA, but i will be priming, ideally use of a spot blaster or cabinet too.

13amp ideally as at home but im open to a sparkies op's on what i could poss do to increase the safety/supply of something abit more meaty as the one below is only 9cfm free flow so wondering if id be best going up in voltage terms to gain more free flow from a better pump..

Found this one so far as its really at my MAX of budget,unless MM can be persuaded haha

Your not going to get a compressor with enough balls to power a da sander for very long off a 13amp plug. Air tools use stupid amounts of air as will blasting.

For large amounts of air from 240v you are better off getting a couple of decent compressors like these;

You will probably have to run in a dedicated supply for them though, unless you happen to have very beefy wiring already

That's going to runout faster than the sealy as it's much smaller receiver but still 3hp

Im not looking at "prolonged" usage, just enough to do say a bonnets worth at a time with a DA, or use of a spot blaster for nooks crannie's, i just dont want under powered tools, had enough of borrowing a hobby comp and spending all day hearing them struggle lol

Im NO SPARKIE so ive no clue on getting more supply voltage out to my garage hence im looking 13amp.

True I had missed that bit. For the £1000 price of the sealy (over priced IMHO) there is some decent sized machine mart single phase units but would need bigger power supply

I have a 150 litre compressor 13 amp plug and I sold my blast cabinet as it would never work well. I just gave up. lol

what is probably meant is some 3hp motors will run of 13 amp supply some will need a 20 amp supply . the voltage on both are single phase 23ov but one will need a higher amperage fuse and will need a dedicated 20 amp supply . so u would need to know what supply cable is to your garage and if there is a spare way in your fuse board to conect in to

its down to the supply transformer that supplies your house. your feed ff one phase with neutral and earth being common either at your main incomer or back at that transformer. typical a house will be on 60-100 amp main fuse that is then fused down to other circuits and cable sizes within the property. for a bigger compressor you would need a new circuit from the main fuse box with RCD and overload protection suitable size cable etc. Don't as many have said in the past start runnig off cooker circuit with flexes throng window etc thats jus a really bad idea

My house is 3yr old, my incoming is right inside the garage, main fuse board is above it internally..

Is there any way i can id what i have to help you gents praps offer me a solution to my issue as this really is a do once purchase for me.

my main switch is 100A, immediate rcd is 80, 6circuit fuses then another rcd@63A,then 3xcircuit fuses, then ive 6empty blanks. The Consumer unit is an MK sentry, rated max current 100A MAX.

Very good sounds upto standard but still doesn't get away from new circuits needing to be certificated by a part p registered installer.

Not a big job though a 32amp bs4343 socket under board (switched) then cabled to a 32 mcb in one of the spare ways (Mk however only do B type MCB'S and to comply with bs7671:2008 all manufactures instructions need to be followed and Mk will say use Mk accessories only)

100% I'm only interested in having any work done properly,
so best i get a few quotes then, but if you cant buy relevant mk parts then its a no goer??

Shame your not local MK you've been a REAL help,I'm very greatfull.

What sorta cost would i be looking at do you think, just so i don't get pants downed come quote time as i have always preferred having a dedicated set up over a plug in at socket job..
