Recommend an impact wrench

Machine Mart sell 1/2 inch bore rubber hose, I used that and a local place sold 1/2 BSP fittings. Undo the bung from the end of the tank and screw a take off in there.

I took a small compressor to help a friend out, it was much smaller than yours and it wouldn't even spin my Snapon impact gun.I would think yours would run the gun with a decent hose. One thing to bare in mind is if you don't use the regulator you will be running maybe 125PSI,most tools state 90PSI(that said I've always run my tools at full pressure with no issues) If go into tyre bays and see impact guns being dragged/thrown across the floor see how many have CP cast in the side. Like all "manufacturers" these days they have cheaper versions which look like all the clones. The other thing I would recommend is a short whip hose, if you make your own with some nice soft/flexible hose(Pirtek air hose is really nice) it makes the gun feel more useable in your hand. I've also had the fittings get damaged with the vibration. I've recently bought a Cp 20mm belt sander and it says clearly in the instructions not to put quick release fittings directly in the tool.

If the speed regulator is not showing much difference between 1-4 then the air supply has restricted flow. Granted the Clarke and generic cheap guns aren't mega powerful but if you don't feed it properly it will be even weaker.

Oh one more question - if I wanted to try and bypass the regulator where do I need to attach the line?

there is your problem straight away!
run air line direct off the tank there is normally a 1/2" bung at the end of the tank use that or re adjust the pipe work where it goes to the pressure switch use 1/2 or at least 3/8 galv fittings to get as much air as poss to the air line.
I would do that before buying guns because running the tools through the little tiny reg supplied will not allow enough air to flow through it. Long 8mm ish air lines are sort of self regulating when being used because of the drag factor of the length of hose, you might be putting 10 bar in from the tank but the tool will only see about 8 at the other end.

Totally agree with Norm..bypass the reg , I fitted a 1/2bsp valve then 1/2" hose to give the compressor a fighting chance. Yet to find a bolt my 240v clarke won't undo...the biggest complaint is the sheer size...useless in an engine bay..

Hey Gents,

Thanks for all the help and advice. Can anyone recommend where I can go to track down a quick release coupling that I can fit onto the end of the tank? I have previously used machine mart and their fixings have been rubbish for leaking air!

I would fit a 1/4 turn 1/2" ball valve first then if the QR fitting leakes you simply and quickly can turn it off.

It's not usually the fittings, with the budget compressors, Wolf, Aldi etc. the tank is made from thin material with the hole pierced then threaded so doesn't have many threads to tighten against

PCL 10mm ID hose and fittings are what you require.

I have an Ingersoll 2125qtimax and its pretty awesome. There's not much it won't undo and its small and light, which means it gets to places where other guns can't.
