If the price of replacement parts is reasonable then it's a no brainer. Not worth it if they want an arm and a leg though !

Yeah im hoping these bits are cheap enough, otherwise i will have to get a good 14cfm compressor instead.

I think its dust and vapour that has caused this wear and lines in the bore, although iv had it a few years in storage, its only been used this past few months.

Yeah, if it was used without an intake filter it will wear pretty fast.

Good news > The price for the reef plate and seal delivered is £10.78 so not bad really, iv ordered two reef's while im there.

I think the air goes into the piston from underneath and thought of putting in some hard foam, any suggestions ?

No, i was told via Nutool services that it does not need a filter for occasional use but i think it does as using it outside i cant do. I have a window at the bottom of the garage so it will get some circulation. Maybe i could fit a big box over it as well as fitting some sort of filter inside the piston head underneath ?

I will cut a few holes in the box so it can breath but cover that up with tape and tea towel for now.

Pretty sure a piece of filter foam cut be fashioned to fit twhere air is drawn in.

a cooker hood filter made 4 the job and cheap

Some good ideas there, the hood filter sounds like it will be up to the job with it having cooking vapours going through them.

No, don't apply oil, this type of compressor is designed to run oil free. Any oil that found it's way in would combine with any dust or debris and form grinding paste

Im thinking of putting a fan against this air filter area to blow away the vapour/dust ill get from the garage when painting in this colder weather, ie door shut.

Ill check some hoover cleaner flat panel filters, i had trouble finding any with the warm air heating filter's.

Basically any air filtration medium that can be made to fit but bear in mind it will need routine replacement so it needs to be as cheap as possible.
