Nice job though. 
decided where i want to mount it problem is i will need it to swivel to give clearance when i have long lengths in my chop saw. Anyone made a swivel base for a record vice? i can see they can be bought for the No34 but i'm not paying over £100 for one.

Could you take a picture of the underside of it please. If it is machined for a swivel base, it makes it easier to make. If not, the fabrication would need a couple of extra layers.

I ask because they seem to make a distinction between the 34 and the 34S (34S had it cast on body). The swivel base did not seem something that was just added to a 34 to make a 34S. I suspect the underside of the 34S might have had some extra machining done to it to accommodate the base.

The thread is 5/16 x 26 tpi which is either 5/16 BSC British Standard Cycle or 5/16 BSB British Standard Brass the difference between the two is the thread angle of 55 degrees or 60 degrees which in this case is fairly irrelevant. If anybody has a box full of original screws let me know, they seem to be rarer than rocking horse XXX.

Just found a couple of old photos of a 34 with a swivel base, there is not a 34s in the casting. Hope this helps

Very much so, thankyou very much. Do you happen to own the dark blue one and are able to snap it in an undressed state*?
There is a difference between the base casting of the light blue one and the dark blue one. The light blue one is flush all the way around. On the dark blue one the casting projects downwards a bit adjacent the front hole in the swivel base, thus riding on the swivel base.
On the lighter one, it is difficult to see how you could locate a large circle. It could touch the two lumps at the back, but these are not machined but there is no third point of contact along the axis of the vice.

Dark blue one has gone to a new home, but the projections are at the front and rear, creating a level surface for the swivel, the same as the light blue one. The swivel is two parts, with the outer ring having the fixing holes to the bench, the other part is a ring that locates inside the outer ring but with 3 lugs on the underside to clamp the vice in position when clamps are tightened, this ring has two tapped holes in to line up with the vice fixing centres. Basically as long as the vice has a flat bottom (light blue one) or lugs equally spaced (dark blue one) the swivel will work.

Thank you very much. Makes perfect sense. It is clearly not a precision fit like a slew ring on a crane.
Do you have a drawing of the screws you are looking for?
Maybe contact someone like Emkay Screw Supplies or BA Bolts (.co.uk). They make stuff for the model engineering market and have the right machinery to do it cheaply.
Feed the bar, turn to 5/16" diameter with a form tool that also makes the countersink and OD of the head, thread with a Coventry die head, part off. Repeat.
To save money, you could slot them yourself (see bottom of this page https://gadgetbuilder.com/Lantern_Chuck.html).
Today I decided to experiment as I haven't found a swivel for the vice yet. Used 10mm plate, machined 4x 20mm dogs, tapped m10 threads in them them and welded the dogs into the plate to match the hole pattern on my workbench and weld table. Idea being i can move the vice where i want and spin it 90 deg when i need. The threads in the dogs are to allow bolting underneath but it seems to be surprisingly sturdy without the bolts for general use and makes it easy to lift off and move around. It was a proof of concept but works so think I'll tidy the metal work up, paint it and see how it goes might of save me £100 on a swivel base or rather allow me to buy something else
