depends on what companies practice with ppe
many want to supply you with the paper masks and class that as adequate protection
that ranges from building companys right up to grinding metal a paper mask is classed as adequate
you want to argue it your down the road
if you want a better one and they do exist nowadays at 20-30.00 not many companies will pay for them
certain masks dont agree with there users glasses wearers
paper masks steam glasses up but thats not taken into account same in most jobs out there for glasses wearers as they do break the seal on other types of masks

At the moment it's up for each employer to provide adequate PPE for the job. This may change in certain circumstances as the HSE changes the regs to the outcome of the consultation.
