The tool will only use what cfm it needs, cheap tools use more through bad design

To get full power from it it will need 6.2 cfm air flow and a at least the same free air delivery from the pump if it needed to keep up with usage

why does it say max then (not trying to be funny or rude) am i worry about nothing and just use it as is with no reg ?

the only other thing i use is for compressed air to clean stuff out not done any spraying in years

Because that's the maximum it will use, and people usually match tools to the air supply they have especially for heavy use for home use where you won't hammer them you should be ok, if you use more then the pump supplies you'll just have to wait for the pressure to build then carry on

the main reason for getting the impact gun was to remove the nuts off old lawn mowers ive used breaker bars hammer heating the nut etc i had a compresser seen a set for sale quite fair price and knowning its a good make should work with what i had air wise apart from the air cleaning

i think from whats been said on here that unregulated seams to be the way to go as what im using would lighly hinder what im using it for

Without doubt no regulator unless you buy a really good one that won't restrict flow

As snoops say you cannot force more cfm through, at 10 bar, but you could if, you raised the pressure to say 20 bar air pressure but that would damage the gun.
at 10 bar compressor pressure the gun will be running at about 8bar ish through an 8-10mm pipe because of the line itself, but at 20 bar in the compressor the pressure would end up at around 18 bar, at the gun maybe more, because the extra pressure will push the air harder through the restricting airline
A little like the reason you can push more KW down a smaller dia wire the higher the voltage, to supply 2-3 houses they use say 50mm line at 230v but if you go to thousands of volts the wire need not be much bigger, but will supplies hundreds of houses, at the end of the long supply cable, after being transformed down.
