Just made a jig to hold the subframe together whilst I start to repair it. I'll be doing one side at a time so it won't get too weak.
Any comments on my jig i.e. will it do the job?
Its bolted to the front and rear of the subframe using existing holes built using a mix of different sized angle iron.
You can see the two front bolts, the rear bolts are at either end of the rear angle iron.
Most of the repairs will be to the underside of the RH and LH main front to rear strut, in this picture the subframe is up side down the holed plate in the bottom right of the picture is the underside of the LH main front to rear strut.
got to hand it to you car boys-bikes are easy (ish), it looks like major graft and commitment to restore a car.

Dunno about restore, but my build was in '68ish. Found an early lightweight shell (thinner metal) and sorted it it out with a 1000cc de-stroked 1100 unit. This was a cheap way of getting the 998 Cooper stuff. Head was off an F3 BMC engine with a 1 3/4" SU carb on a F3 manifold with the restricter removed. Exhaust was Cooper S. Idea was to race in the Mini 7 class. Didn't happen (so many broken dreams...) But used it as a road car for a while. No trim, back was so light i could just about lift it by hand. Plastic windows and a couple of nice Elite seats from a friend at Lotus.
