A guy I worked with in the late 60's turned up with a tidy Austin Cambridge he had bought the previous evening. As we all gazed in wonderment one of the lads spotted a slight bubble in the sill on one side .Further poking exposed the sill was full of newspaper and skimmed over with f/glass. What made it even funnier was that it was the previous weeks local rag.I saw an Alfa many years ago that had sills that said Firestone on the inside. Made from tractor inner tubes . The noise when tapped was a bit of a giveaway...
