Replacing the earth cable on my Clarke Welder

nowt wrong with a bit of speaker wire for an earth, thats what I used on my Clarke Pro 90 mig. one of my mates was thowing away some speaker cable for his car audio, would have been rude not to use it. (looked to have been arround 25mm square)

It's not just in welding either. The car industry has always refered to "earth" when it's clearly not.

The correct term is "work return"

we call it an earth when its not because we are British.
We are a down to earth, tea drinking natiion that does not like just the one mug o tea- work return is not a term that goes down well.

In radio antenna terms it's also called the 'ground plane'.
