Just run a bead of the mastic round the door and let it go off then compress it when the door closes. If it has a door catch it will compress the rope as it tensions up.
the rope you use to seal doors on log burners @julianthegypsy may know the stuff I am sure I brought some from toolstation a few years back

Thanks for the info, going to try the exhaust wrap first as I have some but if it doesn't work I will try that.Just caught up after a week away. You can get flat stove rope designed for just your purpose, held on with fire rope glue. If that's still too thick, get stove window seal, they sell it by the meter, it's 3mm thick before you compress it and about 10mm wide, probably compressed ceramic.
