To the OP.
Its not easy. It needs experience, use the best rods in the world and you can't beat experience and training.
Most 7018 or vodex will get the job done
aye not many stick welders around now id like a go with them super 6 i reckon i could do a spot on vert filarc 88s miles harder fluid slag what you need old welders keep the slag on amateurs chip it away every rod only to get all the spatter from the next rod
I have used them in a 6013 poor centering created a bit of wander Quite honestly 99% of weld issues on the forum are down to one thing "experience " you don't just aquire the skill watching u tube it's visor down time and you can loose it when you don't use itaye not many stick welders around now id like a go with them super 6 i reckon i could do a spot on vert filarc 88s miles harder fluid slag what you need old welders keep the slag on amateurs chip it away every rod only to get all the spatter from the next rod
6013 is harder to weld vertical up as the slag is a lot more fluid and doesn't support the weld pool.
Filarc 56S would be my recommendation. Easier to use positional than a 7018 as they have no iron powder in the flux. This gives you a nice heavy slag that supports the weld. With the right settings and technique you can get a very nice smooth fillet weld.
DCEN for open roots.Old thread I know...the Filarc 56S...running on AC or DC? Cheers
