Safety boots

Mine last 6 months our other chaps at work can get a few years out but I’m using paint, grease, welding, wearing the toes out crawling around on the floor

we all get £50 dewalt ones so not cheap rubbish ones

For all you Haix wearers, what's the sizing like?
I have been on the haix website and found their size recommendation bit, but for my size feet, they recommend a size 8. My current trainers are size 12 and my boots that I am replacing are size 13.5.

My trotters with just a pair of socks on are 27.5cm long and 10.5cm wide. Any of you a similar size?

I'm pretty sure a bigger 16st chap (like me) will wear down a size 12 boot a lot quicker than say a 10st guy in a size 9.

Got a new 'ish pair of DeWalt Bolsters here where the boot uppers are perfect but the sole is worn. Not only can I feel the cigarette butts, I can tell the brand! Not even a year yet. Pretty sure the same type pair before didn't wear this quick.

A tad off-topic as these are not safety boots but after reading this discussion earlier in the week and seeing Haix boots mentioned here and elsewhere on this forum I bought a pair of Haix combat boots for general dog walking duties, winter wear, etc. For years now I've been buying Alt-Berg combat boots on eBay and been very pleased with them but always found the Vibram sole unit useless on the wet, rocky and seaweed strewn beach walks we frequent at the weekends.

BNIB, Goretex lined and the 'tacky' sole feels much like it'll have much more traction on damp surfaces; £65 On eBay, delivered next day by DPD.

@SwissTony I'm between a size 9 and a size 10 and these are 10; they came with a 'spacer' that goes under the insole (same as the Alt-Berg boots I've had previously) and I've installed that - takes a wee bit of the width out, these are a wide fitting boot. Not much help, sorry!

Whatever boots you choose make sure to change makes from time to time. Know someone with something called slurry toes (if memory serves me right). Basically some of the bones in his foot partially fused together because of wearing the same boots all the time. First diagnosed in the WW1 trenches

Was looking at the airpower xr1 boots, but think they may be a bit gimmicky with their lace system.

What length are your feet in centimetres, mine are approximately 27.5cm

Amblers have been my preferred boot for a while now. The FS32's are good, a little heavy but they put up with everything my work throws at them and saved my toes a couple of times too. Think I will try the FS999's next fancy a higher boot to stop water getting in when working in my wet weather gear. Last pair lasted 3 years before the sole wore out.

I've been wearing Dewalt boots for years but they definitely seem to be failing sooner than the old ones.
I do wear them probably 70 hours a week on site and at home so they do get a hammering!
I've got a 10 month old pair of Newark ones that have been comfortable and waterproof but are heavy and a new pair of ProLite ones that have just had a lump of the yellow sole fall off! This happened on the last pair of ProLites so I'm tempted to return them to Screwfix.
The ProLite and Newark boots are wide fit if that helps anyone.

I'm was a huge fan of RockFall non safety boots. First got them when I could no longer afford CATS & Timberlands.

They are my casual boot of choice.

Seems though they have stopped doing the casual side!

I am looking at the safety range for my next pair.

For clambouring around on and shifting steels etc I don't think you can beat a traditional, leather upper stitched sole boot.

I am pretty heavy on footware mind...

Exactly the same size feet as me then, that's very helpful, thanks for that.
I wish all manufacturers would use the same measurement system, make life a lot easier.

Have a pair of cheap rigger boots for general work wear about the garage and garden. Fancy a dealer boot style safety boot next. Any recommendations?
