Tell that to people who have never had a hard hat culture before, when you don't get enough back-up from line managers.On a factory floor - hard hat.
Mind you, they wear them on the "big" projects. I dunno. They didn't listen to me as they didn't directly report to me, and I wasn't going to be "that guy" who dug his heels in the ground.
Getting outside contractors to wear hard hats was much easier.
My point was, when management made bump caps mandatory across site, i just listened to the complaints with a vague smile on my face. Hard hats are still just mandatory on one or two "big" projects that have a hard compound boundary around them. Much easier to police.
I don't care anymore since I'm out the door in 2 weeks
