I bought this cabinet Here You just pour the grit into the hopper it it gets recycled until it contains too many foreign particles to be effective.
It comes with a blast gun built in. I may invest in a better gun with various nozzles later as the one that comes with the cabinet is fairly basic but ok for now. It's the best price I could find in the UK.
At a little under a meter wide it's big enough for most jobs. For a laugh I tested it with my 2hp compressor but it just didn't enough power to strip anything.
I'm now looking at one of These
Having limited space a vertical compressor is the only option.

@Scorpion, from my investigations 10cfm is about the minimum for respectable blasting. So if those figures are correct for your compressor you should be ok.
But...
I was advised to get the biggest compressor and tank I could because the pressure drops fairly quickly once in action with a 6mm nozzle. Anything under 15cfm would have trouble keeping up once the air pump needs to kick in to keep the charge pressure up. 100Lt tank capacity was considered minimum. Otherwise you'll need to wait for a minute to get the tank back up to full charge before you can continue.
Get the biggest you can afford and/or fit in to your workshop. About £1000.00 is minimum spend for a decent setup.
But...

having some experience blasting vehicle shells for preparation work a general rule of thumb when it comes to nozzle size .....4.5mm requires 40 cfm @ 80 psi, 6mm requires 80 cfm @80 psi give or take a bot. 100 cfm compressor does not go far when it comes to media blasting.
10 cfm will be very slow and very dull you need a nozzle around 1.8/2mm in size at best, you'll end up spending days on jobs that should take only a few hours.
Have used one of those ebay pot blasters tis okay to play about with but certainly does not cut it anything like a properly spec blaster.for starters look at the air delivery hose its tiddly compared to my clemco which is the smallest of the range yet uses 3/4 air hose and works about 10 times faster running of same compressor, however what do you expect for 100 notes now back on ebay. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&item=130319331958
as for compressor £1k will not buy much of an electric compressor in terms for media blasting power, very limited to what can run from single phase supply. only way to get proper power is either 3 phase or diesel compressor, the later can be sourced for sensible money theses days due to road work units being hydraulic just make sure to hear it run and do the necessary checks before parting with any money.

^I'm still researching compressors, but I don't think I'll need anything as big as 40cfm or 80cfm. This video shows Blastclean using a 30cfm compressor with their pot and 6mm nozzle. The results look pretty impressive.

^ My cabinet has a small breathing hole at the back. And as it's a syphon system doesn't have such high nozzle pressure.
The more research I do on blasting the more confusing it becomes.
I'm going to invent an all-in-one compressor, cabinet and pot system and clean up.

I'm going to invent an all-in-one compressor, cabinet and pot system and clean up.
You'll find a syphon system uses more air than a pot, it's not the pressure it's the volume you have to shift.
Does the cabinet have another hole on the side? On mine you connect a dust extractor to the side port and the one on the back allows air in so you get a fast change of air in the cabinet to clear the dust away.

I think I'll be ok with the 18cfm blower and that pot I'm looking at. Should cover all the bases and blast things I'm likely to get or want to tackle.

I do a lot of Vespa & Lambrettas and my 14 cfm just keeps up with the work, and I recently added another (2hp) compressor which has helped a bit.
You'll be better with 18cfm, it may even get chance to rest once in a while!
how much would you do in 5min with the 14cfm compressor, 2 X A4 page size ?

A 14cfm compressor works fine with a smaller nozzle. Never actually timed myself but I would say at least that much. Probably more.

Am I better off with one of these paint removal discs https://www.halfords.ie/motoring/to...100mm-paint-and-rust-removal-disc-478837.html (Can be got cheaper I think) or a blaster on a 14cfm compressor.

I do both.
Blasting lots of paint off with a small blast nozzle gets old pretty quick. However using a big nozzle (not an option with a 14cfm compressor) will take the paint off easily but will trash the panels just as quickly.
I take the paint off by scraping, paint remover or sanding / stripping discs (or all three) first then finish it off by blasting using a 3mm nozzle.
It leaves a perfect finish for primer and make short work of any rust.
You can certainly get away without blasting if the panel is in good condition and the bare steel is well sanded with 80 or 100 grade paper.
However blasting with fine grit is the "best" surface for primer.
Those stripping discs can be bought a lot cheaper than the ones in the link.
I think they are by far the most expensive I've ever seen.
Just remember they can also warp flat panels if you spend too much time on one spot.
