Can I have a big 1/2" ID hose for sandblasting and have a 3mm nozzle or should I use the 3/8" ID one (all of them are specific for Sandblasting)? I am afraid that the 1/2" will cause too much wear on the parts since its a bigger transformation from 1/2" to 3mm than 3/8" to 3mm. I am not sure if this is how it works (never done it before)

half inch bore hose will use a 6mm jet at 90cfm cant remember the bore I'm using on my smaller pot with 3mm blast jet but its smaller than half inch

I've used 3/4 id hose on an ebay pot with a 2.5/3mm nozzle. The nozzle determines the air consumption. One thing I've noticed is that the hose doesn't wear nearly as much, it's actually heater hose and lasts longer than the 10mm blast hose supplied with the pot!
I just use a stub of 10mm ID hose to fasten the nozzle into the wider hose.

optimum bore for 3mm jet is 10mm on the ace blaster 15mm bore on the hodge clemco mini pot using a 6mm jet
So it is safe to use the half inch one? I want to use a 3mm nozzle because my compressor can't give more than that (I dont even think it can 3mm :P). I really just want to know if it is safe to use the 1/2" instead of a 3/8" bore

u can use the half inch bore hose but I wouldn't bother as u will loose velocity of the grit traveling through the hose using the larger bore. I have both sizes of jets and pots
So you advice me to use the 3/8 one right?

What dictates the amount of air required, the nozzle size or the air jet for a syphon type system? I have a Guyson 900 blast gun and wondering if my two 14.5cfm compressors joined together will run the gun or whether I'm better off with a smaller blast gun?

if it can keep gun at 90psi it will be fine if it runs out of grunt and pressures low there a waste of time

Although it doesn't say I assume the quoted CFM for the jets are probably at 90psi, if that is the case I'll need a smaller gun. Are there any cheapish decent syphin type guns that will run on two 14.5cfm compressors hooked together?

can u not get smaller jets for your gun I have a generic guyson gun that will run on 2 . 14cfm comps no problem

mind u two 14 = 28cfm I run my smaller pot on a 3mm jet using a twin 14cfm comp and it can keep up with gun no problem

a valid point . I've never noticed on smaller pot using electric comp but on the larger diesel one it throttles back when the grit is introduced using less air

I am looking at the blast pots and they come with 8 foot on rubber line. Does it need to be that long ?
If the line is longer will it affect the performance?
Is it special hose then also ?
Just tempted to buy one of the cheap new blast pots of ebay.
