Bit bloody tech this sandblasting lark init.

Bit off topic if you dont mind be butting in please

I am looking at the blast pots and they come with 8 foot on rubber line. Does it need to be that long ?

If the line is longer will it affect the performance?

Is it special hose then also ?

Just tempted to buy one of the cheap new blast pots of ebay.

its only the blast hose that needs to be decent quality. 8 foot is about rite. its preferable to run 10mm bore pipe to feed the pot . any smaller and u loose cfm and pressure

I am using 10mm right through a sit is si i will carry on with that then to the pot.

8 foot just seemed short to do the boat hull.

Mite as well just get a new kit for £120, at least i get all the bits as some second hand there are bits missing and still around £80

if u buy a pot cut the crap jet of the blast hose and fit a 3mm carbide jet and hold it in with a jubilee clip

What size gun/nozzle for that then ?

there suction guns so don't expect too much from them . a good setup is have the suction gun and also use a pressurised pot in your cabinet that's what I have

Blast hose tends to be thick walled, hard wearing and conductive to dissipate static charges.

Using heater hose with J-Blast gives some interesting sparks and I've had electric shocks too.

When you say a pressurised pot do you feed the media from the pot as well or just use it for feeding the air from?

Or do you mean have both, suction gun and a pressurised gun?

depending how much use it will get and how much u want to spend if its for light cleaning the suction gun will work ok . if u want fast removal of rusty largish parts the pressure pot is handy used in conjunction with the cabinet

The pot is filled with media and pressurised, There is a mixer at the bottom which takes media from the pot and combines it with a stream of air, the mixture then goes along the blast hose and out through the nozzle.
