most of the building trade you have to have a thick skin

can take a joke and most of all give it back

some cant take it back you will soon find those type out very quickly, there the type of people who shouldnt dish it out

ive been fired by a sore loser who dished it out and didnt like it fired back

I was on a site refurbishing social housing properties many years ago and a carpenter cut half way through the mid point of a work platform that I’d made for running mini-trunking at high level.
As you can imagine, the platform snapped and I ended up on the floor.

The carpenter had been installing a new kitchen within this property so I waited for him to nip out then shut the kitchen door and used the plumber’s blow lamp to heat up the metal door knob.

Looking back it was a really stupid thing to do but I don’t think I’ve ever laughed so hard watching the carpenter burn his hand trying to get the kitchen door open.

A light hearted tussle ensued and I found myself in an arm lock facing a pot of paint and brush on the kitchen worktop so put it to good use and started to paint the carpenters ****…..happy days.

Good guess but it was long before the big boys got involved……probably back in the eighties.

The carpenter was called Mick though; probably now bullying young electricians in that great council refurb in the sky.
