Seam sealer on bare metal or primer?

Slight problem now the roll cage that's meant to be going in the car has been delayed by 2 weeks and i have quite a bit of exposed bare metal that i don't' want rusting whilst waiting for the cage to turn up, The base plates for the cage need to be welded in before i can primer and underseal is there anything i can use to cover the bare metal whilst i'm waiting for the cage to turn up?

I use weld through primer for short term stuff.

X2. U.pol do a decent one. Light coat, keep it dry, weld straight to it.

Sweet, will i be able to epoxy straight over ? or should I remove the primer first?

I'd remove it, it comes off pretty easy with a rust and paint removal disc. I've had a couple spots of rust come through it from stuff that's been standing a while but saying that I had a piece of scrap that had been painted one side with it and the other was bare, the bare side had a coating of surface rust while the weld through primer wasn't too bad.
