Thanks Hood. Thought that was the case.I think WP17's usually max out at about 100 amps or so on AC so probably not the best for AC unless it is very thin stuff you will be doing.
Okay, so have I missed the boat completely on the Stealth 206, or is there still some availability anywhere...feel free to point me in a direction ? So many pages to this thread?
I'm about to post a "Which entry level AC Tig for home?" post.
Yes, 140Amp stick is plenty for 3.2 rods and 6mm would not be an issue. The only thing would be the duty cycle and that would depend on what type of old transformer it is, if it is a wee SIP140 buzz box hen it would still do it but the duty cycle may be an issue and you may have to wait long periods for the welder to cool back down.
That just looks like the old SIP140 I started off with 40 years agoYes, is an old buzz box. An Einhell 140 compact. How works the duty cycle in that machines? When is hot it stops automatically or I have to be carefull with that?
The 26 and 17 torches use the same consumables as there both Series 3 Torches, so anything you've got for the 26 will fit a 17.Has anyone been using a WP17 torch for AC on the 206P. I want to swap out the torch and have a Kennedy flexi WP17 on my R-Tech. Spent a bit of money on CK bits for it, so a little reluctant to get a new WP26 and have to buy everything again, but have heard tales of WP17 torches getting hot when do a lot of AC.
To get started I’m going to change the fittings and connectors off the Sherman torch onto my 17, but is it inevitable I’ll want to go up a size for AC or have I got my wires crossed?
Thanks
Thank you! That just looks like the old SIP140 I started off with 40 years ago
They usually have a thermocouple in the transformer and will cut out when they get too hot and cut back in once they cool. You can usually get a bit more time out of them if you fit a fan in them or even just blow air in with a free standing fan.
Link to plugs was here (Reverse XS12-5 Aviation Connector):I have trawled through all the posts in this thread twice for info but can’t bring myself to do it again. Does anyone know where’s the best place to go to get one from?
You could try here Amazon seller.I’m trying to order a 5-pin plug for the torch, but looks like Weldes is not shipping to the U.K. Been looking on eBay but can’t find anything I’d guarantee would fit.

Thanks for the link but unfortunately that’s not the ‘reverse’ type. The plug needs to be male and the socket female. You could try here Amazon seller.
Mine came from a different amazon seller in a pack of five, but now show as currently unavailable.

Kram beat me to it, pleased you are sorted.
Perhaps the writing on the packing tape round his welder might be a clue?!Okay, so have I missed the boat completely on the Stealth 206, or is there still some availability anywhere...feel free to point me in a direction ? So many pages to this thread?
