Shipping a lathe

Use lathe front up here in the Scottish Highlands is dire . If I was to find something down south of (England ) ,does anyone have any recommendations for shipping . I have done some mild research and the quotes are more than the lathes I've been looking at . There's a haulage firm I used before that had a fixed price for ,if it fitted on a standard pallet and was less than a ton ,they don't do that anymore .

He Doesn't advertise on homeworkshop anymore .
If not using @fizzy beware that pallet shifters often only insure upto a certain weight so expensive/ heavy lathes can be well under insured.

P4D did mine, within the UK and eventually to France, eight machines, they were cheap, at the time the cheapest I could find. They deal mainly in EUR pallets but take orders on "oversize" at no large premium, unless things have changed.

P4d went bust recently. New owners now. They used to piggyback off us.

Tis a shame, they sent a Nolan 40 footer with my machinery from Manchester to central France for £1,950 in 2017, nothing else on it.

Providing the lathe is correctly palletised to my standard then we can ship them. Limit with a tail lift is something like a Harrison M300. Lathes are top heavy and a pain to ship.
We have done a short bed Triumph Roundhead but forget the long bed unless there are forklifts available. Max weight through the network is 2000kg.
PM me some sizes and postcodes.
We did a Smart and Brown 1024 from Dunoon to Kent for someone on here. Price was pretty reasonable as it needed a Moffett collection. 1200kg so too heavy for a tail lift.

I loaded an aud into a van on my own, not that heavy at all. Easy go one a pallet.

How far up are you, I might be coming from Kent to Dalkieth soon to collect something.
