I am particularly pleased with the swage block stand but I will need to fit the proposed foot operated lifting lever to help me move the damned thing.

I have a half size anvil and only ever used it 3 times in 30 years. normaly just bat things on the concrete floor or in the vice .last timer was to bat a wheel bearing out using a 14 lb hammer
its ace for clamping things flat and using as a heat soak too.

I have a 1cwt anvil in the shed but it's not mounted on anything I just drag it out when I want to use it. It's too cold and wet to take pictures

Rescued from a skip - arrived at head office one day many years ago to find the truck maintenance workshop was being closed, two of the mechanics were trying to lift this into a skip so I pointed out the boot of my car was much lower...

Gave it a coat of paint and sold this Brooks' a couple of months ago, the stand fabricated from 25mm plate was heavier than the anvil.
That 'Forged in Fire' show has certainly improved the bank balance of a few retired blacksmiths.
I've got two bigger ones, both in storage though.

I don't have a proper anvil but I do have something I made up that suit my needs.
A bit of heavy 10inch column with a 25mm top and bottom plate.
The top plate has a couple of different curves and right angle corners which is useful.
All just burnt out of scrap at the end of a job.
The bits of rail track are great for shaping bodywork and were cut to size on my 6 inch band saw.

Railtrack bolted to a couple of offcuts of oak sleeper. The beak is an old hook off the back of one of those cable lift skip trucks, remember those?, before all this hook lift business. Rough as a badgers backside but does the job, need to build a proper base for it though as it can get a bit wobbly on the log.

mines a bit worse than that they are repairable though there a couple vids on youtube of them being repaired I keep threatening to sort mine out

Och there's enough flat on it for me, probably not worth the hassle of trying to improve it.
