its ace for clamping things flat and using as a heat soak too.Ha ha mine is about 12 inches bolted to a piece of scaffie board for portability never tried welding on it
I don't have a proper anvil but I do have something I made up that suit my needs.

A bit of heavy 10inch column with a 25mm top and bottom plate.
The top plate has a couple of different curves and right angle corners which is useful.
All just burnt out of scrap at the end of a job. .........................
Bizarrely I dug this monster up in a flower bed in my garden. Any ideas what it would have been used for?

Och there's enough flat on it for me, probably not worth the hassle of trying to improve it.mines a bit worse than that they are repairable though there a couple vids on youtube of them being repaired I keep threatening to sort mine out
