Calling Matt?To stop the moving jaw falling out onto your foot, I would guess.
It's too far back for that. Time for a rethink
ThanksAs Seadog says, that's the nut retaining pin. It goes all way through the housing and nut. If you're not planning on stripping it down, just gently tap it back to flush, making sure that it's aligned with the hole in the bottom of the body first.
Acquire more, its the prescribed remedy to calm and temporarily relieve the affliction.
Then give all to me.
Then you can collect more.
Strange,
Looking through my 1950 Rev 16 Pocket Record Tools catalogue it differs in some quite important areas to the one downloaded by CW of the same date and odd its the same revision 16
I wonder if there were two out the same year? Looks as though some vice ranges were changed from Steel to Pearlic malleable Iron, a whole range of Floor vices dropped, machine vices added and the 27 and 28/28s dropped.
^^^^^the jb weld worked well then
Very nice that DK!
Suppose it makes sense leaving ranges out when that part of the foundry is worked up for he foreseeable.
Probably why i'm having trouble finding my steel 83.
Interesting they changed from steel to pearlic malleable iron
likely to be easier to cast and more economical to make, wonder if it was as strong?
Mid/post-war usually signifies the change to iron. It’s got the same properties as cast steel. I believe early steel ones were painted red and iron blue, but it all went a bit muddled after the war so they reverted to just blue for the main range and red for the imp and the auto vice.
Also, don’t leave us out in the cold, post some pics!
Is yours the square blockier type?I have a very large Fortis quick release but it says Unbreakable on the side? It looks really old and not quite as refine as a Record but I do like it.
I should really have a vice clear out!
