well spotted Brum -- but don't think Cornwall's near High Wycombe (I used to hitch from near HW to C for hols as a teenager, sometimes had to sleep on the beach in Devon on the way, great, but wouldn't have liked to do it with the vice)

and yes - it looks a smaller version - didn't know they existed - nice and good price

make sure it has the loose short section of thread that the cam pushes against the rack - won't work w/o this

there's also a 9in version in Mansfield - 2x+ the price and has a notch out of rear jaw (poss for a dog)

In 30 + years we've done many things together, but shenanigans with sharp objects is something we've yet to attempt.

Had one a while, posted pictures a while back. One day I will use it to set and sharpen a saw blade. Think mine's a Disston (?),

i have a "disston and sons" with same rear lever action somewhere, i believe your one is older

the vice is cast steel, has the usual matching cast numbers, has EL stamped into the spindle nose
and at the front top of the anvil something was stamped, theres an f and p then at the end just make out -914, was thinking it may of been the date of manufacture, however it is very hard to read so couldnt be certain
yours has the same rear thread locating and the same spindle nose retaining plate, so i am now going down that road to try and place, thanks for the research
the jaw plate retaining is certainly a way of ensuring ongoing spare part sales, good luck trying to find spares from anyone else!

now finished, it was missing an m33/43 washer which im having to import from China, to complete the action
i believe the colour used is a very near match to the original

I just picked up a very similar saw vice. It is in amazing condition with most of the original paint and even the original sticker. Hoping to get into woodworking so this should help!

Wife & I went up to the recycling centre today then stopped by the resale "Shed" on site. There was an old curmudgeon arguing price on a basket of rusty tools. They had just come in and were priced at £20.oo for the entire basket or £2 each. The guy walked out in a miff and after a quick look I picked out the four best items and paid for them. The lady at the counter thanked me, at which point the old grouch came back in, passing us at the door and started arguing the price again. As we were pulling out of the parking area he was carrying the basket and gave me a dirty look. I smiled and were on our way. Best item appears to be a blacksmith hammer, flat on one surface and slightly rounded on the other face.

i have been selling a few vices lately as i need room for more collectable ones, my better half complained she couldnt move in the garage due to all the clutter and told me to line up and decide which ones to keep and which ones to sell.
seems i still have 40 engineering vices, i think she has forgotten about the 19 woodworking vices, opps

Actually used the Disston saw vice today. Followed a Paul Sellers video and it was surprisingly easy to sharpen a small saw using a three square file. Not tried setting the teeth yet, but the saw was sharper and easier to use afterward.
