Thought I should put up some pictures of my little retreat - I keep meaning to take a picture when it's tidy, but it never seems to be qiuite tidy enough....
The space is rented from a friend on a local farm, has 3ph on tap and is miles from anywhere so I can pretty much make as much noise as I like
Have only been here properly since Christmas, having spent the previous few months putting walls up and the like in what was an open barn...
I have a little machine shop at home too, but this is where most of the fabrication goes on.
[NB Please excuse the slightly mad project going on on the lift...]
I also just noticed there are no welders visible in these pictures.... generally there is a small butters 175A MIG and there will soon be a miller syncrowave tig plant taking up space too...
Had some problems with the last place so we left but.............
We have found a new workshop and we are in the final stages of getting the lease sorted etc and we should have the keys on monday if all goes well.
The total size is 4,000 sq ft
and the workshop is 2,500 sq ft alone
Now to get the workshop running to get the cash coming in and also able to keep the place for a few years, with any luck this will be our last move and we can now really hit the colt and mitsubishi scene with our own range or parts etc and try make a good name for ourselves.
We are putting a big gamble on this working so we have a lot to do to get on the map regarding mitsus etc
Now when I cleaned it up its time to show you may workshop!
This workshop used to belong to my grandfather and now i take care for it. This is the place my ideas come to reality I'm using this workshop only for hobby for now, and i hope sometime (after I end studying in faculty of engineering) I can run my own business in it. This place used to be full of junk and now I have cleaned it and upgrade it
Lathe is in poor condition, about 50 years old but it still works and i use it quite a lot, i am planing to rebuild it some day, mainly replace bearings and trapeze spindles, fix cooling pump... when my finances will let me.
On picture above you can see my new welding table.
Workshop is semi underground, you can see the stairs. And i know, wooden floor and welding?!?!?!?! I am fully aware of danger for fire, wood was impregnated with fire retarding substance and I have just ordered some fire extinguisher before any new welding project.
My old 140amp stick welder, that my grandfather used.
My new MIG/MAG 180amp welder.
Time before welding table , one day I said to myself this has to end!
Homemade welding fume extractor, fan was from an old oil burner. I have to mount one more hose to the ceiling above welding table, other goes out the window.
this is for all of you who say your works/garage is too small too cold or to dis organised... look at what some of us who cant afford a garage have to put up with!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
And a floor, what more could you want ? A few 4x2s and some corrugated you could have a nice carport set up there with a window to pass your mug through.
