Build it as big as you can and don’t skimp on the height. Height is one of the most overlooked things when building a workshop.
As just about everyone on hear will tell you, a workshop will never be big enough.

Insulate under the slab, make the slab deep enough so that you can bolt a lift in place. Everything else you can change after, easily enough, but the floor?

If you have the space, separate the welding, grinding fabrication etc. stuff from any lathes, mills etc. you have. I had everything in one workshop where I used to live, spent half my time cleaning off machinery. This is my current "dirty" workshop. the machining/assembly workshop is separate.

I just helped my mate plan his out and we moved things round and put wood in places to see how it felt for doors and lay out, A few hours wasted laying out can make it better in the long run.

ha ha ha mine's about 28+ inside and it is almost 8.00pm, been fiberglassing today, as well as yesterday, even with the catalyst reduced still going off fast

Anyone who has done this will knowMy wife has always said that we need to live in an house with an aircraft hanger on the side, that would be a suitable garage for me.
Like with buying a safe, always get the largest one you can afford at the time, you will always fill it.
It's easy to fill a garage/workshop with equipment/machines and then realise that you actually have little working space, I kind of have that problem now.
If you have space for a dedicated welding table/bench, don't pile other equipment or machines onto it in other words.

Hence why I said aircraft hanger,...having considerably more height and door opening, they ain't no shed. Lol

BOC ADR 300 from the late 60's-70's -these machines were also badge engineered as several other "makes"back in the day.
It's an old fashioned transformer type 380amp 415V AC/DC TIG and Stick welder. I keep promising myself to get a modern inverter TIG, but anything that has gone wrong with this welder so far has been simple to fix as it's all discrete components. There are no circuit boards, chips etc. in there.
