Skip welding.

if you guys like ill post a list of the gear I use from what I started with to now you can do it on a budget but you really got to work. I can do a six yard floor in about 2-3 hrs quicker if the mrs gets her welding gear on. but like I said its not difficult but it takes a few to get used to them and also they can vary very differently from the animals that hire them. ive been toying with the ideal of building them make a jig for midi skips and just try and bang em out but at the moment I got plenty to repair at the moment

Just as a matter of interest, how many can you repair per week - or average time per repair?
Ball park?one an hour? One a shift? Or one a week?

If it's a floor and the sides are good you usually get about 20 MM. round the out side of the bottom which is still good enough to weld to you will need either two sheets of 5 by 4 foot sheets or if you can find one 6 ft by 5ft sheet about three hrs in it 4 if it needs a butt weld in the middle

So if I quote 5 a week, I probably won't be far off.
Assuming a badly repaired "midi" skip.
That way I'll look good when (if) I do 8...

that's 6 yard floors midis two a day if its just floors with a good 20-10 mm edge around the base. plus the sheets are a lot smaller got quite a few to do 10 to 20 at the moment.
starting gear list for this brought tools
thermal arc 175 te
9 inch and 4 1/2 inch hitatchi grinder set from screw fix
esab globe arc welding mask ( this doubles as a grinding and cutting and welding shield )
3m 10 v auto welding mask
3m air filter cheap with replaceable filters
leather jacket
welding gloves
safety specks ear defenders
hammers ball pein and sledge.
I have upgraded a lot more since ive been doing this.
best thing is to make some dog and wedges up
and if you look at my posts I made a jack out of scrap to push the bins out and tap in to get them back in square

This is how I repair some skips roll on roll of floor and a six yard it's not the neatest way but the fastest I need to make up fixtures so I can cut the bad out completely and but weld.the sides in with folds to weld.whole.floor sections in but at the moment this process takes 5 to 8 hrs on six yards instead of two days
