About as suitable for my use as it would be for a smoker lighting up, and a lighter would still be needed to ignite it. Far too powerful for melting rope ends. I also have 4 proper blow torches already.

i have the zippo petrol lighters and the flints are trash there the same for the clippers as well there not as good as what they was

i go through lighters often as keep them in plumbing box people tend to pinch them

as for the cheapo lighters there of poor quality and so are the expensive 7.00+ lighters they dont last as long either

Refillable chef blowtorch if you don't need anything bigger, get a good hot flame, way better than lighters

Must have had mine for 30 years, or more. It has had occasional use, never been refilled, and still works first time.

I have a similar Lidl cordless soldering iron that you can fill with butane but I wouldn't recommend it. Hard to light and quite a faff. I usually really rate Lidl stuff but this was a disappointment.

I bought one of those. Mine works OK, but filling it with lighter gas seems a bit hit & miss, and that affects the lighting.
Get it right, & mine lights well.
(I think it's better as a mini blowtorch than as a soldering iron though. Last time I soldered a pair of wires, I just heated the wire ends up with the flame & then melted some solder on).
I'm rubbish at soldering mind - hardly ever do it. I do have a cheap 12v soldering iron that works better that I prefer (handy off my DC power supply in the shed set at 15v, or hooked up to vehicle battery if "in the field".

Yes, the filling up is a pain. Never sure if it's filled it or not. I bought it because it was cordless but it was such a faff I went back to the really basic corded one I got for £7 from Amazon warehouse.

All of those "windproof" lighters are kak, I smoke with a vengeance so I know, the Clippers are as bad as the rest. I saw a post further up with bad rep for the Lidl/Aldi soldering tool kit and I disagree, I bought one for shrinking scores of boots onto 8mm shock cord and after 7 years it still strikes after 3 yanks on the piezo.

Indeed they are utter crap as a soldering iron save for 1.0mm OD wound joints using the chisel tip supplied but the hot gas function works very well on heatshrink boots from 6 to 12mm diameter.

I find it seems to fill better using just the can nozzle without any adapter. The ones it comes with seem to not work well.
