Small log burner recommendations

Winter is coming and I want a log burner for the garden office (summer house that has been reinforced and insulated)

I used an electric heater last year but I want a log burner now

I am absolutely, positively 100% sure I do NOT want to make something, I want to buy something and fit it

I recently stayed in a shepherds hut, the log burner below was plenty hot enough, but can't find one even using an image search or Google Lens

Suggestions?

Have a look to see what's available on eBay? When I was looking (without intention) some good while back I kept seeing used Morso stoves popping up.

I definitely do not want a glass door, the one I used this weekend convinced me of that

Small ones don't work with a glass door as there's not enough space to fit a decent sized damper to get enough air into it.

I stayed in a place last week that had a hobbit stove , very small and kicked out loads of heat definitely worth a look

I've got a couple of small stoves here, and I'm not sure which I'm going to use -

I've got a morso squirrel. The upside to them is that they're common, so parts are available and they're readily available on eBay second hand (the whole stoves). They're attractive, and popular with narrow boat folk etc also.

But they're cast. So if you get them too hot they die, same as any cast stove.

The other one I've got here is a woodwarm. We have one in the house also. They're welded steel (apart from the door) and look a happy medium of modern and old. They are common in Devon. I reckon the woodwarm is a better stove, but the morso is "cute"

(We have an outbuilding here that was probably an old stable - I'm converting that into a "function room" and it will go in there. Exposed beams and that kind of stuff, although that makes it sound way more glamorous than it actually is)


The other one I always liked the look of was the burley debdale (if I've got that right on the name - the size up from the hollywell)

Again welded steel, but a bit more fancy in design. Way less common on the used market though which is why I never ended up with one.

I think I probably paid about £150 for the woodwarm and about the same for the morso, used, but good condition.

Wait a bit now - are you saying that no-one makes a glass door fire with a big enough air opening?
Surely this is fixable? Ie make one! For you who makes one? I'm asking because I don't know, not just to be argumentative...

Not with decent air control they don't. I tried with a slide on the base behind the door, but it needed to be so big that it reduced the available space for logs in the firebox. The only one I've seen does it by having a door latch with several notches in it, so it's controlled by leaving the door open a bit. IMHO, that's not good enough. My next size up, also quite small in the schemeof things, has more elbow room and is available with a good sized window.
