I tend to wash my hands in cold water because I'm tight. However, I can see where Lazurus is coming from. In an unheated workshop for example it does not take long for your fingers to become too cold to grip small items like nuts bolts screws etc. An instant supply of warm water soon warms the hands up, and it is more pleasant when washing off at the end of day.
I have an older version of one of these. Works well. I also saved a big tanked version from a skip at work - was working fine, just wasteful idiots chucking it out as they stripped a building. Looks expensive new!I have one of these in my workshop.

I had a similar thing for a couple of years and in the summer it was ok, but I did find it wanting in the winter.
got one of these at work in the workshop they work ok for hand washing (not quick turn it on takes 15 25 secs to get to temp)but you get used to it turn it on get soap on hands a bit of water just warm to wash in and by the time you need to wash your hands off its toaste
I don't have a problem with mine in the winter.

In the winter, with the much colder inlet temp, it just couldn't heat the water.
Obviously there's a relationship between inlet temp, water flow and outlet temp, and whilst it made it warm (ish), unless I reduced flow to little more than a trickle, it just didn't get that warm. I'm getting on a bit now and I do like hot water for cleaning my hands
Ooh, I like that idea!Not a water heater but what about also having a hot air dryer ? Ideal for cold days to warm hand up as well as drying. I've got one
Mine just heated it on demand, a bit like an electric shower. The ones with a storage (like my current one - 15 litres) are way better, IMO!
