And (as Richard knows) when I have a need for warranty I've always walked onto the van and had it dealt with, and that's before spending money. If my dealer says it's warranty when I ask before buying then he honours it. Abuse/misuse won't be covered (though things are a little different if you're a big spender) but it's all explained thoroughly before buying - a lot of the reason for getting some SO stuff was so I could a) have things like decent screwdrivers and b) get them changed under warranty after eventually wearing them out or breaking things.
Let's say that Wera do make a better screwdriver at a quarter of the price (never tried them). But after buying four as they wear out the SO one has paid for itself, the one and only thing that can change that besides using it as a prybar is having it stolen or lost.
I accept that I may have a better dealer than some, but I suspect that people should be asking questions as to exactly what is and isn't covered by the warranty before buying anything and if a dealer won't play ball if the time comes to kick up a stink.
I'm prepared to pay several times as much for SO stuff but as part of that if the aftercare failed me then that dealer would have a big problem, I'd not walk off with an item still broken or out of pocket.
