I started to get the hang of it and ran out of material

Get yourself a piece of stainless bar, grind a corner off a bit. Use that as a backer bar and you will get used to putting more heat into an aluminium joint and moving faster. Then when you’re comfortable remove the backer.

You’ll then have a nice smooth bead and penetration.

A pedal is nearly a must with aluminium, the metal gets heat-soaked so quickly, you have to drop the amps as you move along the joint. Get a cheap one even just to keep you going until you can get something better.

Hour down the work shop today thought I'd slap some out side corners together and I failed I need a way of cutting it other then a grinder I'll get the shear cleared down the yard and cut up loads of square test pieces bit I did a tee fillet weld with the last two bits what you guys think
