i did a fair bit of research into this, i guess like a lot of you guys have , and my verdict is 2 ways full kitted pro sand and soda blasting, northern power wants approx £21000, for that you get the microstrip machine, after cooler, compressor, trailer, water tank, and all accessories, van is extra, but the market if you can break into it is huge, look it up. The other option is what we do, smallish jobs. MILLAR blasting do a 80 kg pot for £200 soda conversion kit is£60. Go to u tube and check out their demo on an engine bay of an mgb it took about 2 1/2 hours, i rang MIKE MILLAR 2 weeks ago and asked how long for a complete car strip he said approx 12 hours, needs about 11cfm and the medium used is "RESTOFINE" dont worry about distortion those days are gone, BUT 12 HOURS !!!! Now our dillema seem to be theres nothing in between, you can by a smaller kit from NP or HODGE CLEMCO for about £5000. that is still heavy unless you have the volume of work. Also you woud,nt want to soda blast a car shell reason being it is simply to expensive, compare prices and volumes/hour and you,ll understand why. This is why soda blasting is being used for delicate work, alloys, car motors ,distributors etc where sand blasting is no good.

Use an old gas bottle and make a cyclonic'ish type separator. Did that with my vacuum so that the bulk of stuff sucked up never reaches the actual vacuum cylinder.

Now these boys take separation to a whole different level 30 + pages A lot of food for thought, & weeks of reading
Tried both walnut & plastic media, Soda is the way forward the time & size are not the problem, am going to make a separator as suggested on that site & see how it preforms.

Picked up my twin blast pot just over week ago, i wasn't going to use it till i get my self a big compressor sometime in next month, but yesterday i decided to hook it up to a small compressor i use for small jobs and from the start it was great.
less than 5 minutes tinkering with settings i was away soda blasting (i only put a few cups of soda in), a test piece on a rocker cover that had been painted a few times by the looks of it took about a minute to blast a strip around 15cm x 2cm, and half an old rose chocolate tin lid in 10 seconds both at 50 psi
once i get a decent compressor to power it and follow the instructions/advice and recommended psi ect im sure it will be great, any parts that may ware out in time i will just replace with better but no complaints from me so far
