soil and stack pipe vents question

I am just wondering where this pipe would have gone to inside the bathroom.

What's on the other side of the wall, inside the property? Can the pipe be seen there, either at the bottom (by the red mark) or the pipe that joins to it from the first floor? The way it's plumbed in suggests it's for some sort of venting function, usng the vertical soil stack as the vent.

the bathrrom is the other side of the wall 40cm below is where the soil pipe enters the batroom and its where the toilet is.

Were the old fasion toilets vented somewhere? I have never seen this.

Any way where that pipe would have entered is a void that has been tiled over

The plumbing arrangement does seem a bit odd. I've never seen old fashioned toilets vented like that.

yes me neither, well I explain the problem now.

Tennat complaind of bad smell in bathroom
I find leak under bath 1 month ago, fix that and tell her to wait for it to dry out smell will go
But smell not gone
I think now after spending time with a borescope under the house it must be that vent pipe venting into the bathroom behind the tiled void with suppilies in.

So I plan to cut and cap it out side and see if this cures smell.

If the pipe really goes nowhere, except to a void, then capping it off should do the trick getting rid of the smell.

thats what I am thinking.
CT1 some kind of cap on to both sides after cutting out a small section.

In "modern" waste plumbing, the overflow connection probably does the same job, basically to break the syphoning action when the sink plug is pulled.

oh i dont doubt it is open in the void tiled over thats why it stinks but why now 1 years later?
