Yes it's joined to both propertiesLooks to go upstairs still - so capping it at the bottom might cause issues with it filling with liquid, leaving it open might cause worries about what's leaking? . . . capping closer to the upstairs connection might be better?
Its a different kind of smell decomp critters smell different this is deffinalty a drain/ water kind of smellHi, It could be a rat or something has crawled in there and died, Once decomposition has finished the smell should fade.

No liquid bone dry and no smell either but the smell may only get forced down when a toilet is flushedWas there any liquid or smell when it was separated?
