not a problem brazing cast iron with oxyacet just v out the crack plenty of flux best heating a good aeria around it with a blowlamp to dull red then use oxyacet to braze. its best to cool it down slowly so it wont crackWill normal brazing rods work for cast? I’ve got an umberalla stand I need to fix for my mum, someone’s already had a go at it with a stick welder which worked for a few years but now it’s gone again. I haven’t got any rods for cast but do have a TIG and Oxy/Acetylene so could braze it. Presume normal brazing flux is ok too?

just let it cool naturally if most of it was heated with a blowtorchPerfect, thanks.
When you say cool it slowly, just naturally in air ok or does it need more than that, like occasionally hitting with a blow lamp?
Stainless rods should be a good optionWill normal brazing rods work for cast?
