i have 3 small ones diffrent makes from autojumble and have a weller instant heat one which is good and an even better one more powerfull its american miller falls bought for a tenner

Another vote for Weller brand.
I think I've had mine for about 30 years. I seem to recall that at the time it was referred to as a 'heat gun' . It also came with some flat ended silver coloured tips- that can be seen in photo, which I have used for trying to repair platic items. I'm unsure what the intended use was for these flat tips.

Since I bought it all my other irons have not been used! Heats up in seconds & can run off a battery if needed.
That reminds me - I have one of those Weller gun kits somewhere, must dig it out & put it up for sale.

Ive been using one of these about 2 years. I like that its compact, no desk space needed for the temp control. The cable could do with being more flexible but its ok. Heats up quick and a pack of tips are cheap, they last a while.
Just be aware the packs of tips seem to be mixed, half are proper tips, copper with iron plating. The other half are not copper and wont transmit heat well, only good for the bin. Easy to seperate them.

Antex, small and medium for at least 40 years, a larger 25W Weller to start me off but that got nicked, and its replacement was a cheapy unknown make of 25W that still works.
Recently, I've been using a Lidl temp-settable iron, but experimenting with a DIY lamp-controller running one of the Antexes and it's moderately successful.
Been thinking of a more modern soldering station, but the stuff I have works well for the kind of things I do.
Also bought a 50 or 60W iron for plastic repairs, which kinda works.

I fancy one of those!.
Normally use my Snap-on Gas soldering iron or 120w electric one for beefier stuff.

It’ll wipe the floor with the gas ones.
Cheap now. £60 ish naked in a shop near me. Probably cheaper online.

+1 for the T12 Soldering Station. Mine is the mains powered version and I've had it for a couple of years now. Heats up in about 8 seconds. My Antex irons don't come out any more.
Any link to the heat gun?
I've tried mine hooked up temporarily to a Makita battery & it works very well. Never got around to making a proper adapter!
Not sure if the same supplier and possibly available on Amazon, AliExpress has lost its appeal for me.
