Can you spot the mistake?

There's no bottle of hair colour in the add.

Actually, the mistake would appear to be that even with the chuck moving at its slowest speed, that her face would have been bonked into the chuck before it stopped ?

I grew up on a farm in the 1950s. We were taught basics like oiling reciprocating mower knives from behind the cutter bar (ours were tractor-powered but they would have been horse-drawn previously).

I regularly sat on the rear axle of a Standard Fordson. while my elder brother steered it while ploughing. I was about 8 years old at that point. I tripped the plough at the headland and also refitted the governor rod (immediately adjacent to the fan with the engine racing at maximum speed!) when it popped off - quite a regular occurrence. I was already driving our big tractor by that age, turning hay and raking fields, chain-harrowing, etc were all jobs cartid out before the age of ten.

We learned to stay behind Granddad when out with the gun (5 year olds). We learned to hold on while riding on the old mare or in the cart she was hooked up to. We rode on the back of the seed drill to ensure all pipes were working - with drag harrows in tow behind the drill. We cut mangolds and used chaff cutters long before we became teenagers! We were using guns before our teenage years, too. We learned how to hold the starting handle properly when starting engines (as large as 4 cylinder 7 1/4 litres) which could ‘kick back’. We slways helped when dad was using the saw bench, cutting logs for the winter. And lots more!

Children are not allowed anywhere near moving machinery these days, not even allowed on a tractor until 13 years old (possibly more, these days?)

Always the possibility that the staged hair wrap was done by hand and not with the drill running.
